Surat dari Priest Michael Meyer

Declaration of Solidarity and Peace

Synod of the Reformed Church of Austria.
Kirchengasse 16, 7400 Oberwart, Austria.

Declaration of Solidarity and Peace for the Indonesian Christian Churches.

Oberwart, 25/10/2011.

As members of the Reformed Church of Austria, we write to you a few sentences of hope and solidarity in the name of Jesus Christ. In linkage to Protestants in Indonesia and according to the folowing news of the World Council of Churches we are deeply concerned about the situation of Christian Churches in Indonesia.

the moderator of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Central Committee, the Rev.Dr.Walter Altmann, visited the Indonesian Christian Church (GKI) in the city of Bogor, West java. the GKI Taman Yasmin Church has been prevented from worshipping in their sanctuary and has been prohibited from continuing further construction of their building. Their constitutional right to conduct worship service has been recognize at all levels of appeal including the Supreme Court of Indonesia.

Our synod declares its solidarity to the GKI Taman Yasmin Churc. We urge for the full respect of religious beliefs and to the faith practoces, foremost worship of all religions.

We heard also about conflicts in Ambon and Solo in Java. In all this conflicts there have died several persons, destroyed at least 150 house of Muslim and Christians and because of all these conflicts thousand of people were expelled as refugees. Our church is worried about these prosecutions of Christian people in Indonesia and the struggle against them especially by fundamentalist Muslim people.

In this concern we urge the Indonesian government for ongoing protection of all those, who are just practicing their belief in Jesus Christ in an honest way withour ever having been seeked the confrontation with the Indonesian society. We urge the wider Indonesian public and all those who are responsible for public order, to bring those to court, who are attacking innocent people when they are praying for peace.

last not least we hope, the Christian churches of Java can do their work without being injured or hindered by any violence. We will not rest in our prayer for all the Christians in Indonesian in the hope for justice, human right and justice. We hope for a peacefully coexistence of the different religions and ethnic minorities in Indonesia as we know that the radical minority in Indonesia can be cut down to size by strictly respecting the freedom and the regard of religions and their leaderships are responsible

As brothers and sisters all of our synodals are greeting in peace and prayers.

Your sincerely.
